As Azar Building has grown, we’ve achieved many milestones that reflect our dedication to quality and craftsmanship. We believe in the importance of every project we undertake, each one adding to our legacy and commitment to our clients. Here’s a look at key events that have defined our journey.
Who We Are Today
Today, we remain a local, family-run business, operating from our offices, workshops, yard, and depots in Kingston upon Thames. While we now manage multimillion-pound projects, our core values remain unchanged most of our clients still come through personal recommendations.
Bob leads the company as Managing Director, overseeing projects with his management team. Suzy runs the financial and administrative side, ensuring every detail is accounted for. Our son, George, has been part of the business since his teens and now manages stock movement across our sites.
We take a hands-on approach, preferring not to subcontract. Instead, our dedicated teams rotate through projects based on carefully planned timelines. Our Site Managers work closely with the Project Management team to maintain quality and efficiency. To streamline logistics, we manage our own fleet of vehicles, ensuring timely material deliveries and responsible waste disposal at local recycling facilities.
Decades of industry expertise have earned us recognition, including certifications from the FSB, FTA, and Considerate Constructors Scheme. We are also Delta Membrane Systems Installers, specializing in basement waterproofing.
1991 - How It All Started
Bob, a skilled builder, started as a sole trader in SW London and North Surrey, with the support of his partner, Suzy. At the time, word of mouth was our greatest asset. Client recommendations fuelled our growth and built trust within the community.
2003 - The Azar Building Ltd, incorporated
As Bob's reputation grew and demand for his expertise surged, so did the scale and complexity of our projects. To meet this growing demand, we formed dedicated teams and built a structured operation, allowing us to deliver high-quality work more efficiently.
2012 - Expanding Below Ground – Mastering Basement Construction
In 2012, we took a bold step into basement construction, expanding our expertise to meet growing client demand. Despite this new direction, our approach remained unchanged—our reputation and commitment to quality continued to drive referrals. Neighbours and friends trusted us to transform their homes, one project at a time.
2015 - Elevating Craftsmanship – Launching Our Bespoke Joinery Workshop
In 2015, we expanded our expertise by establishing a bespoke joinery workshop, enabling us to craft luxury bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms tailored to our clients' exact specifications. With skilled artisans at the helm, we ensured that every detail, from intricate woodwork to flawless finishes, met our uncompromising standards of craftsmanship.
2018 - Strengthening Our Foundation – In-House Structural & Architectural Metalworks
By 2018, we took another leap forward, launching an in-house workshop dedicated to structural and architectural metalworks. This addition allowed us to further refine our process, ensuring precision, durability, and seamless integration across all aspects of our projects. With complete control over both woodwork and metalwork, we strengthened our ability to deliver custom-built, high-quality solutions on our own timescales
2021: Expanding Into Commercial Projects – Retrofitting Historical Buildings
In 2021, we entered the commercial construction field, responding to the growing demand for retrofitting and conversion of residential buildings into commercial spaces. Our first major project involved a Grade II listed building, where we retrofitted a three-floor footprint to meet modern standards. The work included installing smart lighting, integrated audio systems, air conditioning, and MVHR—blending historic character with cutting-edge technology.
2023: Expanding Services – Comprehensive Property Maintenance
In 2023, we expanded our services to include property maintenance, which provides support to both existing and new clients seeking reliable upkeep solutions. Today, we manage a growing property maintenance portfolio in South West London, offering a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach that ensures that issues are resolved efficiently and in a timely manner. Backed by decades of construction expertise, we give our clients confidence that their homes and buildings are always in excellent condition.
